- 80% of American women are dissatisfied with their appearance.
- Two thirds of women are so unhappy with their bodies they would undergo plastic surgery to achieve the perfect body.
- 51% of 9 and 10 year old girls feel better about themselves if they are on a diet.
- Approximately 7 million girls and women in the U.S. struggle with eating disorders.
- Without treatment, up to 20% of people with serious eating disorders die.
I believe that beauty is love, integrity, honesty, compassion and generosity of spirit. I would rather spend one day with someone who is genuine than a lifetime with someone who wears a mask.
The earth didn’t quake last month when we showed some boob (well, maybe a little – sorry Taiwan, way to take one for the masses). I imagine it can handle our bare faces for one day.
Oh, and for those of you who clicked on yesterday’s post (Bloggers in the buff) and were disappointed to see it was about blogging without makeup, who took me to task because I talk up honesty and the genuine article and then posted a teaser title like that (hint, the readers I’m referring to here are not the ones with vaginas, they were very enthusiastic about the post), I’ll say this:
Fine then, you want the genuine article? Later this year I will start my own meme – Bloggers in the buff, the full monty. I expect the enthusiastic participation of everyone who took me to task. Whingers.
Anyway. Please show your support of the women participating today. Visit their links (go to Jodie's site for the McLinky), tell them how beautiful they are, stumble their posts. Because we are beautiful, all of us (even you whinging men).
This is me, first thing in the morning, mother, writer, workslave, soon-to-be-ex, incorrigible dreamer, afflicted with wanderlust, raw and uncensored.
Oh, you look great!
ReplyDeleteBloggers in the buff? Eeeeeeek!
Thanks for joining in. This is fantastic!
xxx
Beautiful. You radiate happiness. :)
ReplyDeleteI think I'll give Bloggers in the Buff a miss... but I can't wait to see what the 'whingers' look like in the nude.

ReplyDeleteFull monty? No-one told mentioned that!
ReplyDeleteI'll also be joining Marylin in the morning if no-one minds. If I took a pic now I don't think you'd be able to see me the lighting is so poor.
You are beautiful.
Yeah, better go booze it up Glen, I'm tagging you in my meme when the time comes. You'll be harking back to your Navy days.

ReplyDeleteit is 51 degrees here and I have had my air conditioner on full time since March. Whatever help me when it gets much hotter. and no there are no pictures, wouldn't want to scare and scar the delicate sensibilities of the masses with my 211kgs of loveliness!
Bow chicka bow waow!
ReplyDeleteGoddess. You forgot to add goddess.
ReplyDeleteYou are truly beautiful, inside and out!
ReplyDeleteNow here's my problem: all I have is a crappy cell phone camera and no one to take a shot except my kidlets. Do I dare???

ReplyDeleteBut happy to come see your glowing gorgeousness, all fresh and peachy in the morning. I didn't dare take mine that early...my eyes would still have been slits!
Amazing, the light this meme is shining on how we see ourselves against how others see us. It's awesome!

ReplyDeleteGreat pic. I'm so glad we did this, it's refreshing.
ReplyDeleteAlso, I didn't know where else to send this. Your comment on my blog yesterday?. Meant so much to me, honestly. I was second guessing myself for posting it at all as noone at all said a word, not even my regulars. Thank you for being so sweet.
ReplyDeleteThe episode of "Glee" last night here featured the generously proportioned cheerleader (sorry - first time I've watched the show; don't know the characters) sang "We are beautiful, in every single way". Lovely photo.
ReplyDeleteLooking fab as usual!! love the smile
ReplyDeleteYou are Beautiful!
ReplyDeleteHappy #BloggersWithoutMakeup Day... you do look stunning wearing only that smile !
Lol I wanted to title just me naked in shower ( I took my pic there today in front of the mirror ...but I'm not that kind of girl who wants those kind of peeps)
I prefer my wife without makeup. She looks like the girl I met all those years ago.
ReplyDeleteWith it, she looks like a carbon monoxide poison victim. Still a cute one, of course - just not like HER. :)
Hey, there, Sexy Beast...
ReplyDeleteOh!!! my cat lady.... you are a really beautiful woman.... and a divine smile
ReplyDeleteyour forgot to mention very very beautiful in that list.
ReplyDeleteJust beautiful sweetie.
ReplyDeleteYou are gorgeous! I'm totally loving all of this Blogging without Makeup!
ReplyDeleteAlso, just wanted to add a little note that these statistics that you posted truly make my heart ache. I wish I could send a hug out to all of those people, letting them know they are beautiful as they are.
Tried to post a comment earlier but the computer wouldn't take it. I was determined to come back!!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful post. It's what's on the inside, and you've got it in spades. Like we talked about offline, we'll show by example.
Yet Kristin, I love you without makeup and all, but that day in the buff?? Well, let's just say I'm not quite ready to go there....
It has been fun going on a world tour of naked faced bloggers!
ReplyDeleteYou look marvelous!
Great shot gorgeous! Love those smiling eyes.
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting my blog & commenting on my 'bare all' post too :) Your photo is lovely...you look so fresh for first thing in the morning...gorgeous! Claire ;o)

ReplyDeleteI'm enjoying seeing everyone sans the makeup!
First thing in the morning, and no black circles under your eyes? Very, very jealous. You look fantastic.
ReplyDeleteYour post made me smile! LOVE the idea of making the whingers join in the *real* Full Monty-style blog meme later in the year ;)
ReplyDeleteYou are beaming first thing in the morning. I want what you're having! You look beautiful.
You look JUST like my Aunt. (Who is beautiful.)

ReplyDeletex
Damn you look gorgeous! You make me want to go get some cream or something and start working on me wrinkles...radiance to die for!
ReplyDeleteI internet browsed in the buff once. I'd just had a spray tan and was 'drying off' and sitting in the chair by the computer in the kitchen. Had no idea that hubby had left the side gate open so his gardener cousin could come check out our patch of backyard. I didn't know until he walked past the kitchen window that is.....
*breathes deeply at the memory*
BUT with locks on gates I'm definately nodding head in agreeance on the whole blogging in the buff suggestion. I'm in :)
xx
Loved this idea so much too, looking forward to seeing us all in the buff next year again ... btw your post on BlogHer is great too.
ReplyDelete@Dovic, I think that might have been worth it just to have the story to tell! I'm sure it was worth it for your gardner. ;-)
ReplyDeleteThank you everyone for the beautiful comments. I'm glowing from all the comment love!
ReplyDeleteGreat pic. Just found you via Mummy Mayhem. Loved the positive words in your profile. :)
