I think I've just become a sports fan

So you know my life has been one big puddle of stress lately and I've been having a good whinge about it now and then here on my blog (and to whomever makes the poor decision to stand still around me for too many seconds) and it was suggested to me recently that perhaps I should find something novel to take my mind off of all this fucked-up-edness. And I said, “Oh, as if,” and then made a sweeping gesture with my hand to indicate the impossibility of fitting anything new into my already overcrowded life.

But then I happened across a post on Eva's blog today that caught my eye and thought that perhaps, just perhaps I could shuffle a few things around and find some time to enjoy a new hobby. Because did you know there is such a thing as naked rugby?

Indeed there is.

Hoo to the ya ya ya!

And hows about:

Hello boys. I think I've just become a sports fan.

  1. Nice. Very nice. So nice I dribbled a bit of milkshake out of my mouth onto my work desk. Now one of my clients has a 'Cookies and Cream' splodge on their contract. Perhaps I should put down the milkshake and find me a rugby team...

  3. I say we become professional naked rugby hooligans.

  4. I wonder if they have this on YouTube? Mmmm.

  5. Seriously, Nude Rugby?

    Googling.

  6. I'm a big rugby league fan, and even though I really do enjoy the skill and physicality of the game, the fact that 26 rather buff young men are running around in tight tops and short shorts does factor in to the equation. Having said that, I'm not sure that I'd want to see all those dangly bits swinging around the park on a Sunday afternoon. Though, considering that Rugby is a winter sport, I'm not sure just how much of a distraction they would be. If you know what I mean.

  8. So much less painful than nude polo. Not that I know definitively that this game exists, but... just sayin'...

Congratulations on your new hobby to bring a smile to your dial!

  9. LOL my hubby played rugby in college and I showed him this and he just shook his head and cringed LOL. Rugby guys are pretty darn hot. I do know that in college though, when you got your first "try" (which is what they call a goal in rugby), after the game you had to run around the field butt naked and at the end the guys poured beer all over you. I met my hubby shortly after but would have LOVED to see that!

  10. Bwahahahahahaha. I've always liked rugby but that certainly does add a certain dimension to it!

  11. Ooops, too many certains there. That's what you get for showing me naked rugby boys - nonsensical comments.

  12. Reminds of that old joke about rugby being a sport for men who like playing with odd shaped balls...

  13. I have three words for you fan tas tic. I think I've just been recruited as a sports fan too.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Haha! Now that made it a bit more interesting! (I'm not a sports fan either)

  19. I'm kinda concerned about injuries. Rugby's a rough sport. Either way I'd be happy to join the cheerleading team.

  20. @ Miranda, video. Why didn't I think of video? Here I am looking at stills. Silly me.

@ Kristin, yes, I imagine they play this game a little more gingerly!

  21. I think i will join you maybe we can convince the guys from Twilight to play some ball.............mmmmmmmm

  22. utterly disgusting - I'm deeply offended and appalled at you for putting this smut on your blog. Now, whatever happened to those pillow fighting ladies you had a while back - a much more respectable and genuinely interesting sport.

  23. Nude rugby... I was a rugby fan to start with, only now I am possessed! ;)

    ReplyDelete
  24. Nude rugby, where the hell have you been all my life?

    ReplyDelete
  25. And if you think the guys are hot, you should see the cheerleaders!

    ReplyDelete
  26. I think I just found my new favorite sport as well. And where does one view this nude rugby?

  27. And i thought i didn't like rugby?!

if this can't take your mind off things for at least a little while nothing will!

  29. I have just one question, how do they keep those little star thingys in place while running around? ROFL!!

  30. I had a son who played rugby, while one of his team mates was injured during a rugby match. He didn't survive the accident. Many other rugby players werve vitally injured. Naked rugby defies all meaning, as there couldn't be enough body protection for the players where not even clothes are sufficient. Rugby is one of roughest and most dangerous sports. I cannot find naked rugby amusing thinking of the sorrow and hardship it has caused mothers of many a player. This cannot be compared to American football, girls and guys...

  31. @ Gabrielle, I'm sorry for the loss of your son's friend.

  32. @ Kakka, these are not amateurs, they've been training all year. Or perhaps it's just sticky tape.

  33. bahahaha, thanks for the little cheer to start my day! :)

  34. Oh. My.

I know what I'll do while N is away for work.
    (KIDS! Off to bed!)

  35. I'm sure you meant no offence with this post. Clearly these men are not being FORCED to play naked. If a grown man chooses to do something like this, more power to him!!

    ReplyDelete
  36. @ Katie - correct, I didn't force them, I just asked nicely.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Hellooooo, naked rugby!
How come the spectators are mostly men?

  41. This is what happens when someone suggests you read a book!?! That's hilarious!

    ReplyDelete
  42. wow, bits must of been slapping around everywhere.

Imagine of they had footy cards of the players for that!

    ReplyDelete
  43. Ooh love it! We have a little game called AFL here and the boys would go very nicely nude :) Stars were a disappointment though. ;)

    ReplyDelete
  44. Yes, blasted stars! And footy cards, what a lovely idea disydoit. :)

    ReplyDelete
  45. Ah you make me laugh - just what I needed - thank you!

    ReplyDelete
  46. Bwahhahahah - that was definitely a great read! thanks!!!

    ReplyDelete
  49. Good grief- over here blokes wear these headbands to stop their ears getting ripped off when they play rugby- you see where I'm going with this?

    ReplyDelete
  50. :) I grew up in Northern Europe where all kinds of sports where occasionally or systematically done naked, especially on the beaches. Volleyball involves a lot of jumping I recall.lol..
