Which way to the ABC?

Well, Kristin, you've come to the right place. I've re-scheduled my arrival in Sydney for the Aussie Bloggers Conference in order to take you shopping (and, no, it wasn't just because more free drinks opportunities arose, truly it wasn't ... ) so that you don't have to walk around in your Australia flag get-up.
Although, snaps to you, it's extremely patriotic and makes none of us wonder where your allegiances already lie.
You're arriving in Australia at a time when the seasons are just starting to change. We will be excited to wear jeans again without dripping in sweat; you will probably still be dripping as it will be similar to your summer, not to mention our distinct lack of snow.
You mention that you'd like your personal brand to be "gypsy sex-goddess, with a touch of professional panache". Well, Ms Brumm, I can certainly work with that.
You also tell me that your best friend would shame you for shopping at Target and then remind you that the '90s ended long ago. Oops, better cross those poo-catcher pants off the wishlist.
"I’d like to step out of my comfort zone a little and try something new. I prefer long and sleek over loud or cropped. Everything in my closet is pretty much jeans/slacks and sweaters/t-shirts. I want to feel beautiful and sexy," you said.
Right, the quickest way to make a women look and feel sexy is to find dresses that fit and flatter them. Dresses are not just for dressing up - the right dresses are the work horses of your wardrobe. It only takes ONE garment to make an outfit when you have a dress.
Yes, jeans and pants have their place but they need to sit side by side with something a little bit different.
On the subject of budget, I see we're going to be firm friends: "I don’t have a lot right now. I’m just going to close my eyes and hand over my Visa card."
What I can guarantee you my beautiful friend is that when you hand over that Visa card that you will absolutely love what you have just purchased.
It won't sit in a cupboard with its tags still on. No that purchase will be loved because when you wear it you will feel so totally fabulous, you'll feel even taller than you are now and ready to take on the world.
You deserve to feel that way and our shopping together is my welcome to Australia gift for you.

You rock that flag waaaay better than Pauline Hansen... if you're not sure who she is, it would be better to keep it that way, for your own sanity.
ReplyDeleteI think you look great in the flag! I'm really excited for you and your new adventure! You go, girl!
ReplyDeletethere's nothing wrong with a little flag - so if you could throw that big one away and then retake the photo with the little one we would all be happy!
