Master of the obvious

I've been a very bad blogger. I've managed one post a week for the last few weeks and have been largely absent from the blogosphere in general. You see, I've gone back to work full-time, at last. While I'm glad to be feeling myself again, the juggling act is a tough one. It's beginning to dawn on me that being a single mother with a FT job, who's trying to support a writing career on top of everything else is a wee bit challenging. Who knew?

I have a pile of posts lined up, some light, some emotional, a giveaway, even a sponsored post (hey hey, don't run). Now if I can just find a few quiet moments to get them out of my head and onto virtual paper.

Other than increasing my working hours, not a lot has changed in the background of my life. My divorce is still pending, my husband* still remains under criminal investigation. *By the way, I think I need to come up with a new term, other than 'husband'. It doesn't seem appropriate for someone I should have been divorced from last fall, had all gone according to plan, and whom I've only set eyes on once in the last year (and that was in a courtroom). Too soon to say 'ex' but nominations are open if you can come up with a better name.

Despite the fact that I still remain in this limbo, my life is moving forward in some other very satisfactory ways. While there are some things I have no control over right now, those that I do I am taking by the reins and it feels empowering and just plain good to have some positive change (for a change).  And yes, I'm going to be vague for the time being. Use your imagination.

If I haven't been by your blog in a while, I will soon. I miss knowing what's going on in everyone's lives. So with that said I'm going to let this pass for a post and leave you with these stunning shots of 4th of July funaiety!

So have you come up with a name yet?

How about now?

  6. soon to be ex husband, ex, BASTARD..... umm father of my children, past mistake, really bad error of judgement. Who knows there has to be something shorter - loser!
Good for a chuckle anyway :) love the happy snaps! And Kristen my second husband always says "you are allowed to make one mistake!" we did - got over it - and have the best 2nd marriage now.

  7. One post a week, that's slack?! Please don't head over to my blog then, it must be growing weeds by now :| Hahaha

I have a few suggestions - The Bald & Lame is my fave though ;)

  8. I saw you tweet it, but HEX is my favourite :)

  9. I like HEX as a name too. Love the pic of the kids happy and having a ball

  10. How about The Horror? Sums up how he made you feel.

  11. Hmmm ... how about
has been, the failed one, the lesser man.

  12. Voldermort?

    With apologies to Harry Potter.

  13. Mine is Wanker - sometimes I forget what his real name actually is!

  14. I'm so glad to read that your life is progressing positively, you certainly deserve it.

Namewise, I'm thinking Fuckstick, Asswipe or SISFTBOMS (shit I scraped from the bottom of my shoe).

  15. Lovely photos!

When a friend accidently mistyped my ex's name and called him lack (sooo appropriate) I continued the theme, he is now known as ex lax which pretty much sums him up!

  16. Well now, you could just refer to him as the sperm donor or perhaps FUBAR (f*cked up beyond all recognition).

It is so great to see the lightness returning to your writing. There is a smile at the end of your sentences and I for one am looking forward to learning more about these "good changes"!

  18. The Mollusc - the bottom dwelling scum eater

Been a little bit absent myself of late, so no pointing fingers here.

Glad things are on the up and up and loving the photos of the kiddles have fun. xxx

  20. Dag.

Most appropriate, and - of course - an Australian favourite.

    LCM x

(for those foreign readers, a dag is a piece of shit hanging off a sheep's backside)

  21. You can use the one I use for my ex: "FUCKFACE" ..... the word just rolls off the tongue and I love it.

  22. I know I shouldn't, but I am giggling immaturely after reading these comments. It's like your comment feed has a bad case of tourettes today, K!

I'm liking the one you're trotting out today on Twitter: Wasbund. Perrrrfect. You know how you feel and all that goes with that, but for me, personally, using a name so hate-filled wouldn't make *me* feel good. No offense intended at ALL to the funny and inventive names listed here! They're just not for everyone (and, as you say, not reeeeally publishable!) XOXO

  23. Arsehat. Poxbreeder. Fuckhead. But they all sound too nice. I like Hex!

  24. My sister has a very colourful list of names for her ex which I won't go into. I like fubar - says so much without being too M-rated.

  25. Any of the above suggestions for names would work, just pick and choose at random, use all of them, a different one each post.
I'm glad to hear you're back at work and doing well.
Take your time getting around to my blog, you're not missing much.
    Except some pretty photos.

  26. Use X for the "cancelled one!" Or unfather with regards the kids (That's what I use!)

    ReplyDelete
  27. How about giant ultra mega douche?

Glad things are going well for you Madam, we miss you x

  28. On my blog mine is referred to as FoTB (Father of the Boy) so maybe FoTK (Father of the Kids)?

FSOB was voted down (F&*$ing Son of a B^&$%) although I can't for the life of me figure out why right now because it seems so fitting. :-)
