A very good ending

Once upon a time a woman lost her cat. She couldn't find him anywhere, so she rented a humane trap in the hopes he was hiding nearby, set it up, wrote a post about her lost cat and went to bed.

The next morning the trap was still empty.

There was much boo-hooing in the house.

Later that day, when the kids came home from school, they started in on Plan C.

They canvassed the neighborhood and talked to several neighbors, but none of them had seen a gray kitty.

As they walked home in the 428 thousand degree heat, they again called out to the kitty.

As they were walking towards their house, the girl heard a faint mew. Could it be?

The girl stopped and listened, then suddenly took off and ran into the neighbor's garage (the neighbor's garage?), where a very tired and hungry gray kitty was crouching beneath a car.

Kitty! You were in the neighbor's garage this whole time?!

When they came home the prodigal kitty did lots and lots of this:

(while being thoroughly sniffed out by his sister)

The family was overjoyed! They decided to have a special celebration dinner.

And for kitty...

The next morning, as the family was eating breakfast, the boy pointed to the humane trap, which was now sitting out on the back porch.

"Mommy," he said, "Look!"

Uh oh.

Sorry random neighborhood kitty.

But aren't you a cutie?

The family was happy to have kitty back in their lives. Kitty was glad to have access to food, water and central air. Random neighborhood kitty, once released, shot out of the cage like a bat out of hell and was never seen from again.

Order had been restored. All was right with the world.
