I feel lighter already

I'm off to a good start. Today, a truck from a local charity came to my house and picked up this:

Mostly clothing and kitchenware. It felt good to wave goodbye as it tooled off down the street. I celebrated by going into the basement and getting to work on my next purge.

A number of you said you wanted to join in the fun and lighten up along with me. Yay! Can't wait to see the pictures.

I don't know about you, but I'm feeling lighter already.

Yup.

    1. I think you should celebrate with a glass of wine. There's a bottle outside my guest room... :)

    2. It's a bit early yet (not quite 9.30 am) but I will save that suggestion for this evening, and have two.

  2. You know, I think I still have my wedding outfit, too. Will be getting its eviction notice today. Glad you're feeling lighter :-)

  3. Good on you Kristen! I have to admit to having my first wedding dress in a box.... supposedly waiting for my skinny daughter to wear it or use the material (slight romantic traditional wish happening here .... maybe when pigs fly)and even the ex's vest that I made OMG how bad does this look in writing! My second marriage is great (you are allowed to make one mistake) and I have already sold off the suit I wore - go figure?? Can't work out what this means ....

    1. I think it means that once upon a time you were perhaps more sentimental about such things, but now that you are wiser and more mature, you realize that it's all about the quality of relationships in life and not about the stuff, however pretty.

Or not... just a wild guess!

  4. Hmmm your giving away the suit has prompted me for a blog post of my own! Come over and read what I did with the dress I wore at my first wedding... http://myscarlettheartt.com/?p=308

  6. Oooooh! 'Keep or chuck?', my favourite game of all times.
I have been known to offer invaluable advice to girlfriends in this regard, ie. key questions: when did you last wear/use/think about this item? If timeline exceeds 6 months => CHUCK; when are you next likely to wear/use/think about this item? If timeline exceeds 6 months => CHUCK

    Love it.

    1. My mom used to have this little diddy she would sing when I was considering what to do with something:

      "When in doubt
      don't scream or shout
      just throw it out!"

      Wise words...

    1. Yes, I've found that doing a little every day may not feel like much at the time, but it adds up in the long run and one day you look around and realize your space has completely changed.
