Healing through Storytelling - Blog Directory

“When you stand and share your story in an empowering way, your story will heal you and your story will heal somebody else.” - Iyanla Vanzant

Welcome to the Healing Through Storytelling blog directory. Here you will find links to personal blogs in which people share their own stories of living with life's challenges: medical issues, mental health, addiction and issues of trauma, such as rape or domestic violence.

Crafting our narratives and sharing our stories is healing. Reading someone else's story is healing.  Personal stories help bridge isolation, create a sense of community and light a path in the darkness.

The idea for the directory came out of this post, which also includes links to relevant articles and studies on the topic of healing through storytelling.

When you visit these blogs, please do so in a spirit of support and respect. It takes great courage to share intimate stories with others.

If you'd like to suggest a blog for inclusion in the directory, send me a link (you can read this post for submission guidelines). For questions or concerns, contact me healing @ kristinbrumm.com.

  1. True enough, sharing stories is healing. Like they say, experience is always the best teacher. Most of the spiritual speakers that I know went through a rough situation that they were able to survive. That gave them strength and it serves as an inspiration to people.

  2. I went to counselling once and it really helps a lot to hear inspiring stories by different people. It makes you feel you're not alone in a depressing situation and that whatever you're going through, there is always light at the end of the tunnel. It doesn't matter who has the worst experience, as long as in the end, you are trying to lift each other.

  3. Please add one more to your directory.. though it may require a new addition: "parents of children with mental illness".

This form of healing is invaluable. Thank you for sharing.
